REVIEWS

Wielding an entertainingly sharp narrative scalpel throughout incident-rich "Number One" (Numéro Une), Tonie Marshall posits that women getting promoted solely on merit is a quaint notion. Lisa Nesselson - Screen International

Captivating from beginning to end, an (...) economic thriller where all the blows are allowed and where human relations are most often defined by violence. Franck Garbarz - Positif

It reminds us of "Working Girl" by Mike Nichols or "La Banquière" by Francis Girod ... A thriller that pleads for the cause of women is rather rare. Bravo! Françoise Delbecq - Elle

The result: an offensive and feminist film that presents a reality that had never been shown on the big screen. Olivier de Bruyn - Marianne

A useful film. Gilles Kerdreux - Ouest France

Emmanuelle Blachey (Emmanuelle Devos, The Chef's Wife - SFFF 2014) is a brilliant and determined engineer who has risen up through the ranks of her company, a leading French energy firm, and is now sitting on the board of directors, the only woman there. Happy in her personal life, she has been married for 20 years to a caring man and is a mother of two. Emmanuelle’s life seems perfect. But what if she wants more?

One day, a network of powerful women offers to help her become the first woman head of a CAC 40 firm. She is warned that, despite her indisputable qualifications, it will be an uphill and dirty battle. Emmanuelle is a fighter who cannot resist the challenge, but she didn't realize that in this industrial world still largely dominated by men, the competition, thrilling at first, would turn into a war affecting both her professional and personal life.

Emmanuelle Devos was nominated for a 2018 Best Actress César for her gorgeous and fierce portrayal of Emmanuelle Blachey.

Shown with LET ME DANCE (Laissez moi danser) by Valérie Leroy.
