A fun shot of adrenaline. Laurent Dijan, Studio Ciné Live

It is summer vacation! Tom (Robert Downey, Jr. look alike José Garcia, one of France’s favorite comics), his pregnant wife Julia (humorist Caroline Vigneaux) and their two kids are getting ready to take to the road in their brand new minivan. Things get tense when Julia finds out that Tom’s eccentric and libidinous father, Ben (Alain Resnais’ favorite actor André Dussollier in an unusual but fabulous comic turn – and you can see Dussollier's serious side in This Is Our Land, opening this year’s SFFF) is to join them on the trip.

But here they go nevertheless and, finally relaxing on the freeway, Tom switches on the cruise control. When Julia, exasperated by one last blunder from Ben, asks her husband to turn the car around, Tom realizes that he no longer controls the speed of his vehicle: the cruise control is stuck at 100 miles per hour. The car doesn’t respond. What to do?

A crazy car, its passengers on the verge of a nervous breakdown, an angry driver on its trail, incompetent police forces, and a monster traffic jam that awaits less than two hundred kilometers away… A mix of Speed and National Lampoon's Vacation, the fittingly titled Full Speed doesn’t stop until its spectacular finale!

This action-packed, hilarious, and popular comedy is the kind of French film you rarely see in the U.S. and that we love to add to the SFFF lineup. Yes, French cinema is also "that"! Like Divorce French Style, playing this year at the SFFF, it is considered a family-friendly comedy in France but would probably be rated R in the U.S. for strong language... If you don't mind the language, bring your kids, they'll have a blast!

Shown with INVASION DAY by Vincent De Bellis, Milos Eratostène, Terence Guilpin, Léo Lefèbvre, Raphael Leylavergne, Arthur Loiseau, Mohamed Oumoumad and Dimitri Trouvé (ISART DIGITAL)
