DAVE MORENO

Dave Moreno has an extensive background in playing the theater organ. He is equally comfortable with silent movie accompaniment, solo music of the 1920s-1950s and jazz organ. Over the past 40 years he has played in many of the great remaining vintage theatres and organ restaurants like Bella Roma Pizza and Pizza and Pipes in both Sacramento and Fresno. He is responsible for the maintenance of no less than 40 theatre organs in California alone. Moreno is regularly featured in such fun California ovenues as Ironstone Vineyards, The Paramount Theatre in Oakland, The State Theatre in Oroville and the former Fox California, now the Bob Hope Theatre in Stockton.

His warmth, personality and sense of humor are most evident in performance. This is when he shares his enthusiasm for the art and musicality of another era to his delighted audiences. Moreno’s style at the console is as uniquely his own as is his fashionable appearance. He is an avid collector of vintage platform shoes, most originals from the 1970s. His collection is currently over 600 pairs! You’ll likely see his favorite pair of the day, busy on the organ’s pedal board during his performance.

In the fall of 2022, a theatre organ was installed at the Tower Theatre. Built in the 1970’s, this Rodgers 33-E Theatre style analog organ was previously in the Bradley’s Organ Studio in Oakland CA. The Tower Theatre organ is played by Dave Moreno every Saturday evening, between screenings, around 7pm. Call the theatre for time schedule.
