REVIEWS

A globetrotting documentary that’s more focused on solutions than problems, Tomorrow (Demain) provides a comprehensive look at ways in which activists, organizers and everyday citizens are trying to make the world a better, greener, more sustainable place. (...) this playfully made exposé should be required viewing for anyone wondering what they could do to pitch in and save the planet. Jordan Mintzer - Hollywood Reporter

A striking and hopeful documentary that should help build awareness! Elle

This documentary by Melanie Laurent and Cyril Dion is not opportunistic. First, because their commitment to the ecological question is not new. And especially, because, instead of the usual anxiety about the degraded state of our planet, the duo focuses on concrete solutions. Thierry Cheze - Studio Cine Live

After the journal Nature announced the possible extinction of a part of mankind before the end of the 21st century, Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent (The Day I Saw Your Heart - SFFF 2012, Inglourious Basterds), together with a team of four people, carried out an investigation in ten different countries to figure out what may lead to this disaster, and above all, how to avoid it.

Cyril and Mélanie didn't want to make another pessimistic or preachy eco-documentary, and, on the contrary, their film provides an inspiring futuristic vision. What can we do to mitigate the collapse of ecosystems? Showing solutions, telling a feel-good story… this may be the best way to solve the ecological, economic, and social crises that our countries are facing. Demain explores activism around the world to show that solutions do exist for us to re-invent the way we live.

During their journey, Cyril, Mélanie, and their team met the pioneers who are transforming agriculture, energy, economy, democracy, and education. Combining those concrete and positive actions, which are already working, they began to figure out what tomorrow's world could be… With its humor, stunning imagery, and beautiful musical score by Swedish singer songwriter Fredrika Stahl, Demain is an emphatic declaration of hope.

Tomorrow was financed in part by crowd funding: 10,266 people donated through Kiss Kiss Bank Bank and made the film possible. It was a huge success at the French box office, a rarity for a documentary, and won the 2016 César for Best Documentary.

Tomorrow is a hopeful, practical, inspiring, and, at times, funny eco-documentary, not to be missed!
