REVIEWS
A popular and succesful comedy on a rather serious social theme. Balasko-Lamy are a comical pair! Jean Serroy, Le Dauphiné Libéré
A winning trio of women! Alain Grasset, Le Parisien
Beyond the jubilant comical situations, Back to Mom's also addresses more "serious" themes like siblings rivalry, sexuality, mutual aid. And it does it right. Emilie Leoni, Télé 2 semaines
If the story conforms to the norms of most family movies with the expected final reconciliation, the portrait of a woman whose second youth is threatened by grown-up children as invasive as they are unconscious, is delicately remarkable. Thomas Sotinel, Le Monde

How would you like to go back and live with your parents?
At 40, Stéphanie (Alexandra Lamy), a high roller architect has lost everything in the bankruptcy of her architectural firm. Forced to move back in with her widowed mother Jacqueline (Josiane Balasko), she is welcomed with open arms if she can bear the over-heated apartment, the cat, the old-fashioned songs playing on a loop, the feverish Scrabble games, and of course, the precious maternal advice on how to behave at the table and lead one’s life. And it's not easy either for Jacqueline to have her grown-up daughter back at home. She has her own life, of which her daughter knows nothing... Mother and daughter both must exercise infinite patience, and when the other siblings (portrayed by fantastic comic actors Mathilde Seigner, Jérôme Commandeur, and Philippe Lefèbvre) arrive for dinner, things get even more heated...
One of the film’s most hilariously jokes involves a practically untranslatable running gag in which a famous local brand of frozen food (Picard) and a regional dish (from Picardie) turn out to be homonyms, giving the kids the impression their mom just heated up some stuff in the oven rather than having slaved away for them in the kitchen all day.
Shown with UNLEAVENED BREAD (CARAMEL MOU) Wilfried Méance
