It's hard not to take delight in Michel Gondry and his whooshing, bendable universe. Steven Rea - The Philadelphia Inquirer

Just the first 10 minutes of Michel Gondry's latest pillowcase of whimsy, Mood Indigo, has more invention than most of the movies you'll see this year. Moira MacDonald - The Seattle Times

Colin (Romain Duris, The Beat That My Heart Skipped – SFFF 2005, Heartbreaker – SFFF 2010, Chinese Puzzle – SFFF 2014, The New Girlfriend – this year at the SFFF) is a wealthy bachelor whose hobbies include developing a pianocktail (a cocktail-making piano) and devouring unearthly dishes prepared by his trusty chef Nicolas (Omar Sy, Jurassic World, Intouchables, Samba – opening film of the SFFF this year), which he shares with his best friend Chick (Gad Elmaleh), who is obsessed with philosopher Jean-Sol Partre.

At a party, Colin meets the sweet and adorable Chloé (SFFF’s favorite star Audrey Tautou), and before they know it, they’re dancing to Duke Ellington and plunging headfirst into a romance that director Michel Gondry rapturously depicts as only he can. They get married and live happily until Chloé is diagnosed with an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs. To save her, the only cure is to surround Chloe with a never-ending supply of fresh flowers.

There couldn’t be anyone better suited than the eminently inventive Gondry (The Science of SleepEternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindBe Kind Rewind) to adapt Boris Vian's visionary, surreal and romantic cult love story to the big screen.

Shown in its Extended Cut version, never released in theaters in the U.S.
