REVIEWS

An explosively funny erotic farce - both a celebration and a satire of men's daydreams. - Pauline Kael

Gritty, funny and touching. - Variety

A crazy, wacky, often actually slapstick, and very risqué sex comedy that nonchalantly backs its way into the light of sweetness and simple human kindness without even considering compromising its anarchic, rebellious edge, Bertrand Blier's Going Places is a real gem of a movie that Kino has now polished up to look its very best for this Blu-ray release. And none too soon; this one is ripe for rediscovery by a new generation of home-theater cinephiles as a too seldom-invoked classic of post-New Wave French cinema. Highly Recommended. - DVD Talk

Discover Gérard Depardieu in the role that made him a star!

Two charming drifters Jean-Claude (Depardieu) and Pierrot (Patrick Dewaere, one of France's most charismatic and promising actors of the 1970's who committed suicide in 1982 at the age of 35), spend their days harassing women and committing petty crimes. The French title, Les Valseuses (The Testicles), exposes the source of their anti-social behavior.

Their amorous adventures lead them to a frigid hairdresser (Miou Miou), a sex-starved ex-con (New Wave's favorite, Jeanne Moreau), and a teenager desperate to escape bourgeois life (Isabelle Huppert, in one of her first roles).

The film, graced with a beautiful score by Stéphane Grappelli, was the 3rd highest grossing film of the year 1974 in France.

Director Bertrand Blier is the son of actor Bernard Blier starring as Javert in LES MISERABLES, playing this year at the SFFF.

Shown with Tram by Michaela Pavlatova.
